In Memory of Sherald Sluka 1933-2018
The staff at the Bethlehem Center was heartbroken to hear of the passing of Sherald Sluka
this month. We would like to send our sympathy and condolences out to his wife beloved wife Mary Ellen, their five daughters and grand- and great-grandchildren during this difficult time.
Sherald is an especially important figure in the history of our Center. At the direction of Monsignor Ray Dreiling, Sherald kept the doors open, launching it under it's current moniker - The Bethlehem Center in 2011.
Following a 22-year career in Public Service, Sherald led the Bethlehem Center as Executive Director from 2011-2013 and continued to selflessly volunteer at the Center after his second retirement, through much of 2018.
Sherald was a devoted volunteer throughout the Visalia Community and in his home parish of the Catholic Church of Visalia.
If you have a special memory of Sherald and his time at the Bethlehem Center, we encourage you to leave a message for his family at the Salser & Dillard Website.
Thank you Sherald for all of your contributions. Your presence at the center has brought immeasurable hope, comfort and dignity to the many families that have come to the Bethlehem Center over the years.
