Starting this week, the Bethlehem Center opened its doors to a team of agencies, and non-profit organizations working to move some of our most vulnerable homeless people into available housing opportunities.

Organized by Kings/Tulare Homeless Alliance(KTHA), the “LINK Team” set up a temporary office in the dining hall at Bethlehem Center for three hours this week. Invited clients were able to move from station to station to complete necessary paperwork and screenings with multiple agencies at once.

This difficult work is not done overnight, but the goal is to provide a safe path for those suffering from severe issues like addiction, illness and disability to get qualified for programs that they otherwise might not be able to accomplish on their own.

The big goal: By the end of the day, each client will be moved into safe housing.

“Successes happen one client at a time. It’s hard work,” KTHA Executive Director Machael Smith said.
